Pete's Corner
Fall 2006
Pete passed away in 2004. This gentle giant was the heart and soul of our program. He
is missed by all who knew and loved him. No one will ever forget his immense size, gentle expression, and friendly ways. Over the years, he helped countless riders improve their strength, balance, and stability with a kindness and patience that can't be matched. Many were able to move on to ride independently. None
of us will forget:
- The joy he brought to his riders,
- The pleasure he took in wandering around the grounds,
- The relish with which he ate his special treats,
- The sight of him sneaking back into the barn to raid the feed stall or a stable mate's feed bin,
- The sound of his hoofs as he ran from one end of the field to the other when he was in high spirits, or
- The love and patience he showed to all.
This column will be continued to bear Pete's name for now, because no other name will do. His "voice" may be silenced but his spirit will live on here at Pegasus forever.
