All of our volunteers get to have some fun working with both our horses and our riders. With approximately 75 people donating their time and energy, volunteerism is the heart of the Pegasus program. Without you, our service to the handicapped community could not exist. Most of our volunteers find that they receive as much as they give; it is a labor of love that provides an exciting and fulfilling challenge.
When each student rides they work with a "team". This includes a horse, a horse handler and two side-walkers. Originally everyone is trained as a side-walker. Although there are two instructors in the arena during lessons, our volunteer side-walkers become our eyes and ears. This is your opportunity to have fun and get to know our riders!
Never worked around horses before? No problem! We'll teach you everything you need to know. We groom and tack all of our horses before our riding lessons start. They are then fed and settled in for the night after a good day's work playing with our riders.
We welcome you to Pegasus and hope this will be an experience you'll never forget.

Volunteers are needed to assist with therapy lessons and grooming in the mornings, evenings and on Saturdays and Sundays.
The schedule for volunteering is as follows:
- Monday
5:30pm-8:00pm
(No court service hours) - Tuesday
5:15pm-8:15pm - Wednesday
9:00am-1:00pm or
5:15pm-8:15pm - Thursday
9:00am-11:00am or
5:15pm-8:15pm - Saturday
9:00am-1:30pm - Sunday
12:30pm-3:45pm

Volunteer Orientations
To volunteer you must first attend a volunteer orientation. Volunteer orientations are offered on Thursdays at 5:30. An appointment is necessary. Please call in advance at 215-742-1501. Our age requirements for volunteers begins at 14 years of age. All volunteers must have medical insurance. Adults are welcome and needed! Please download the volunteer form ahead of time.
Volunteer Form
This form cannot be submitted on-line or FAXED IN. Forms must be signed in the presence of a Pegasus staff member. If volunteer is under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian must be present to sign forms.
