Congratulations to Gus, one of our amazing therapy horses from Pegasus Therapeutic Riding Academy. On Saturday, October 27, 2018, Gus was celebrated at Pegasus TRA with a retirement party.  Gus was surrounded by volunteers, riders and staff to wish him well on his retirement to Kentucky that will take place in November.  It was a fun evening to see Gus showered with treats, pets and well-wishes.  We even celebrated with a special cake prepared by Program Director, Teresa Doherty.  Gus of course received the first piece, then volunteers and staff treated each of the Pegasus TRA therapy horses to a piece of cake!

Here’s a little bit more information about John, the newest member to the Pegasus Therapeutic Riding Academy equine staff.

John is a draft cross that comes to Pegasus from a barn in New York State. His experience in dressage and showing, make him a great addition to our herd. He exudes the best qualities of a therapeutic horse; he is steady, friendly, calm and quiet. His trustworthy nature allows our clients to ride with confidence.

We are excited to have John join our herd and to be a part of our therapeutic riding program.  Welcome to Pegasus John!

Mason has been with Pegasus since 2010 and has been a well-loved member of the family. Mason was generously free leased to our program and will be returning to his home in Florida to be with his owner.  Mason has been an incredible equine teacher and friend to many of our riders, volunteers and staff.  We will miss him dearly.  However, we are happy to know he will be spending his days grazing in the Florida sunshine and we think he will be pretty happy about it too!

His previous work in 4-H and participating in trail rides and other activities make him an excellent addition for our under saddle riders. Chai’s laid back personality also makes him a great horse for those just starting. He loves to greet our staff and volunteers with a knicker anytime they pass by.  As you can see, Chai loves his work, is always willing to play and is thrilled to be at Pegasus for his new career as a therapy horse with Pegasus Therapeutic Riding Academy.
