Twas the night before Christmas at the Pegasus stable
All the horses were cozy thanks to Sarah, Elysia and Kevin who are so able!
The stalls had fresh bedding and the horses had hay
Buckets were filled and the aisles swept away.
The hay bags were hung in the stalls with great care
The boys were hoping that St. Nicholas would soon be there
When out on Bustleton there arose such a clatter,
The barn was awoken to see what was the matter.
Sunny poked his head out as the doors slid ajar
Sergio nickered as he thought a snack time wasn’t too far!
What to the wondering of the Pegasus herd should appear?
A miniature sleigh and eight tiny reindeer!
In a flash Sergio knew it must be St. Nick
Big Mac wanted hay, so he gave the stall door a kick!
At the front of the barn the doors opened with a slide
He called out to Sunny, Caspian, Sergio, Zephyr, Oro and Clyde
continuing his shout outs, he walked past the wash rack
‘Hi Mikey’, ‘Hello Gus’, ‘Easy Brian’, ‘Settle down Big Mac!’
The horses noticed his clothes had fur from his head to his foot
Not only were they tarnished with ashes and soot,
He had arena felt, sawdust and hay on his boot.
As he looked at the horses, his eyes how they twinkled! His dimples were merry!
His cheeks were like roses and nose like a cherry.
He was chubby and plump and in a good mood.
The horses all nickered as he walked by… he had to have food!
With a wink of his eye and a twist of his head
He nodded to Chai, George, Marvel and Squirt for they had nothing to dread.
He spoke not another word, but got straight to work
He re-filled water buckets, tossed hay and then turned with a jerk
The horses wondered had he forgotten mints, carrots and cookies?
Gus assured the others ‘no way!’ St. Nick wasn’t a rookie!
As he turned to walk out, he had mints in his hand
He even brought Salem wet food in a can!
He sprang to his sleigh and gave his team a short whistle
and away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
The horses all watched as he rode out of sight,
“Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Night!”
